The Bruce Bowyer Foundation is a private, not for profit organization created in honor of the late Bruce H. Bowyer.

It is being established as a long-term philanthropic program, with broad charitable and educational purposes that will support the diverse range of activities that Bruce was engaged or interested in.

Among his other accomplishments, Bruce was a National Chess Master and he strongly believed that learning to play chess early in life produces a significant effect on intellectual development, that is, that it improves one's ability to think.

In recognition of this idea, the Foundation's initial focus will be on supporting events and programs related to chess education and activities for students from elementary through high school grades, as well as endorsing several of the children's charities Bruce was interested in.

We are also in the process of developing several scholarship awards, and expect to have an initial grant process in place by mid-2006.
